UZALO’S GC CONFIRMS ESWATINI SHOW

By Phetsile Mamba | 2019-08-22

SOUTH African actor Khaya Dladla has confirmed that he will be attending the Eswatini Summer Fest scheduled for September 27 at Malkerns Country Club.

He confirmed this on his Instagram platform yesterday and stated that he could not wait to meet his Eswatini fans, as he would be making his debut appearance in the Kingdom.

Hailing from Durban, Khaya will be directing proceedings of the festival.

He will be sharing the stage with the likes of Busiswa, Distruction Boyz, Touch Of Soul, DJ Wicked, DJ Njebza, MBO, Fufu, Anakhonza, Super CDQ, DJ Chester, Illa Penboy and DJ Yanda.

Dladla is best known for his role as the flamboyant beautician GC on SABC1’s soapie Uzalo.

It was his first professional television acting role, despite having performed in theatre since the age of nine, according to his profile.

This role was expanded into the character GC, which originally stood for ‘Gay Character’ in the script before being flushed out by the writers. When the decision was made to expand the character, his back story gave him the name Gamakhulu Cetshwayo, although he is known as GC.

For starters, is it also worth noting that Khaya was one of the eight celebrity contestants on the SABC1, advertiser-funded game show Tropika Smoooth Fan, in which uber-fans of celebrities put their skills and celeb-knowledge to the test in the hope of making it to the finale, for a chance to win E250 000 cash and a car.

Tickets to the event are vying for E150 general and E300 for VIP and available at all Galitos outlets.
